Mentoring & Expertise
Westminster Business Council launched its flagship Business Mentoring Programme in 2011, and with it created the concept on the Mentoring Meet-Up.
The aim of this programme is to connect the talent and knowledge, passion and enthusiasm of entrepreneurs and experienced businessmen and women with a variety of exciting start-ups and SMEs.
More than 500 businesses have successfully been through this programme, meeting mentors that have helped grow their business concept and build a successful company.
Mentoring Meet Up
Once a month WBC holds a Mentoring Meet Up, an event that provides the opportunity for mentees and mentors to get together. These sessions allow for the sharing of knowledge and business experiences, for mentees to ask industry professionals questions and essentially to create a platform for dialogue to flourish. With good conversations come good connections, and good mentoring partnerships.
Who is eligible to join the programme?
Anyone can apply to our programme! Whether it's just an idea you have, if you are a start-up, or a well-established business, WBC's mentoring programme is open to you and has been effective for more than 500 businesses to date.

The Brand Inspiration Company
Fiona’s passion is getting to the heart of a business and finding out the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ behind it. Fiona has made a career using the answers to these seemingly simple questions to build stronger brands and compelling customer experiences. She’s worked in leadership roles across the retail sector, transforming brands like Ann Summers, Wallis, Early Learning Centre and BHS so they can achieve powerful improvements in performance, with a lot of fun along the way. Fiona also set up and ran the MA in Fashion Business Management at The University of Westminster and has just finished writing her first book, A Profitable Love Affair – How to Build and Sustain a Strong Brand. Fiona is now Managing Director of The Brand Inspiration Co., which helps clients from start-ups to well-established firms boost business by (re-)discovering their brand mojo. After being involved over a number of years as a Trustee of Women in Retail, Fiona was invited to take a Director role to realise their vision: helping the next generation of retail leaders be the best they can be, both professionally and personally.
A serial businessman Simon is a generalist having started, led and sold a multi-million pound business. Advising hotels, leisure, entertainment, restaurants, health, construction, property and refurbishment, he recently co-founded The Fordham Henderson Partnership offering mentoring, coaching and business advice services and leadership and management development training. Simon is a speaker on business issues and writes for a business magazine, is a board member of The Assoc. of Business Mentors and has been asked to act as an advisor to the Anglia Ruskin University Business School in Cambridge and Chelmsford and the Institute of Directors Young Enterprise Award Scheme. He recently received two nominations for the first annual Excellence in Enterprise Mentoring Awards for his assistance to start-ups.

Philippa ran a successful and profitable advertising and communication agency for many years. She holds CIM diplomas in Marketing and Digital Marketing, a MA Marketing and an MBA from Cass Business School, a globally leading business school based in the heart of London. She is a member of the Chartered Institute and Chartered Marketer. Her expertise is in business and marketing strategy, ideas generation, change agent, marketing communications, pricing, media, branding, social, digital, leadership and business profitability. Under her expert guidance and support business owners thrive and achieve their business goals.
I qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1973 and went into practice in late 1976. During my years as a practicing accountant I worked at every level of business from start-ups to established multinational corporations. Leaving practice life in late 2012, I started mentoring with Westminster Business Council. I have helped a number of businesses progress from pre inception to active trading and established businesses to grow through resolution of day to day problems and strategic planning.

Lance has more than 25 years of experience in selling and delivering large IT systems to the Financial Services Sector. Lance ran offices with multiple sales teams & projects across Europe, Middle East and Africa. In 2004 started his own consultancy business and now continues to help SMEs grow their businesses. His main area of expertise is In creating a good value proposition, lead generation/marketing and sales plan.
Having helped more than 10,000 SMEs across a 25 year career in commercial radio, I specialise in helping business owners plan, organise and control their businesses placing the customer at the centre of everything they do. They are in a unique position and are likely to have different aspirations – I see it as my job to firstly ascertaining how realistic their aspirations are, before guiding them to achieve the best they can. A fully qualified Certified Practising Accountant (now a Fellow), investor and business owner Ian has seen his many and varied business interests take him literally around the globe. He has worked with and advised business owners in all facets of their businesses in such diverse markets as Australasia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, United States, Mexico, South Africa, India, Ireland, United Kingdom and Western Europe. Ian’s background of having advised thousands of businesses, both as an accountant and business advisor, allows him a unique perspective that he can bring to the development of any type of business. There’s not much Ian hasn’t seen or been involved in. He has developed for himself a reputation as a “no-nonsense” bottom line organiser who, because of has vast business experience, can add value to any business.

In particular, we ensure those with property BTL portfolios, folk can lose the Capital Gains they have accumulated whilst reducing the income tax on their rental income.

Graham has experience providing IP advice to a wide variety of clients, ranging from start-ups to major corporations. He is a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney, a Registered Design Attorney and a part-qualified Trade Mark Attorney.
Pauline provides clients with practical advice and pragmatic solutions in relation to all aspects of stamp taxes. Her wide-ranging experience on corporate and real estate transactions means that she gives bespoke advice tailored to the needs of clients, whether they are major multi-nationals, financial institutions or individual investors. She has a proven track-record in delivering outcomes on unwinding complex structures, working alongside lenders on re-financing projects and supporting corporate trustees and offshore lawyers in managing transactions across multiple jurisdictions. She has also supported administrators and liquidators on assets disposals to realise value from property portfolios. In addition, she has worked extensively on public sector projects, ranging from urban regeneration to student accommodation out-sourcing. Her considerable expertise comes from her 14 years in practice at KPMG and through her previous role as Assistant Controller at HMRC Stamp Office.
Darren is a writer and director with 10 years experience in the production industry. He creates beautifully simple videos that explain complex business messages, in order that customers can better understand a business offering.
