The Westminster Business Council Awards: Championing Excellence in Westminster
Celebrating business heroes and champions of industry, the inaugural Westminster Business Council Awards will take place on 22 October 2019, giving well-deserved recognition for outstanding talent, ingenuity and business excellence in the heart of London.
This sold-out awards ceremony will take place at the historic National Liberal Club, designed by Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse and will be attended by The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Ruth Bush.
These awards are unlike any other in the UK, encouraging businesses across all industry sectors to champion hard-work and commitment to their stakeholders and the wider community, culminating in an uplifting and entertaining evening of celebration.
As London’s premier business connections team, Westminster Business Council (WBC) acts as an extension to any business development team, with an extensive network of around 12,000 enterprises. These awards have been developed to allow its partners and other organisations operating in Westminster to shine a light on their achievements.
Elizabeth Crowther Hunt, CEO of WBC, said: ''These awards demonstrate the level of excellence and commitment from the businesses operating in Westminster. The awards categories allow businesses to present significant achievements for both businesses and the community. We are excited to see many great examples of inspiring work, giving us a greater insight into the world of business right here in the heart of London."
There are eight categories to be awarded on the night, covering diversity, sustainability, apprenticeships, social value, stakeholder engagement, technology, young person in business and the WBC Chairman’s award for outstanding contribution to the economy and community of Westminster.
The ceremony will be hosted by Dr Paul Knapman, Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Westminster, who will have the honour of announcing the award winners.
After the awards have been presented the dinner guests will hear from political commentator and journalist Peter Kellner, former President of YouGov and current Chairman of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Having written for The Sunday Times, Independent, New Statesman and regular appearances on BBC Newsnight, BBC Election programmes and Channel 4 News, Peter Kellner’s expert opinion on politics and current affairs is in high demand.
Fabienne Viala, Chairman of headline sponsors Bouygues UK, Bouygues Energies & Services and LinkCity, commented: ''We are incredibly pleased to be part of the first ever Westminster Business Council Awards. Doing business in Westminster is an exciting experience and we are proud to be supporting these awards which showcase and celebrate the success and diversity of business in Westminster."
The awards finalists were announced at the end of August and tickets for the awards ceremony sold out in September.
